Vape Tanks

A vape tank is the chamber that contains a reservoir for your e-liquid and a replaceable coil (heating element) to turn the liquid into vapour. Powered by a mod, the tanks we stock are usually classified as either 'DTL' and 'sub-ohm' for direct inhales of big clouds of vapour, or 'MTL' and 'plus-ohm' for a more restrictive mouth inhale and a more conservative amount of vapour. Types of Vape Tanks

Vape tanks are filled with e-liquid, which soaks into the wick and makes contact with the coil. The coil heats up when you power on the device, vaporising the e-liquid so you can inhale it from the mouthpiece, also known as a drip tip. 

Clearomisers

Clearomisers were a common type of vape tank that were found often in starter kits. These were clear tanks made out of plastic or glass which can be refilled with e-liquid.  Clearomisers have not been as readily available on the market in recent years. You may still find these on some websites, but we recommend updating your vape to a kit with a clear, removable pod that is simple to refill as necessary.  Mouth To Lung Vape Tanks MTL vape tanks are designed for mouth-to-lung vaping using low powered vapes with plus ohm coils. They have a narrow mouthpiece and restricted airflow. MTL vape tanks have restricted airflow but provide higher nicotine delivery.  Mouth to lung tanks are commonly found in starter kits and are popular among former smokers because they provide a vaping experience more similar to that of smoking. 

Sub-Ohm Vape Tanks

Sub-ohm tanks are designed for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping. They feature a wide mouthpiece and wider airflow, and because their coils heat faster they produce larger amounts of vapour with intense flavours. They are designed for use in higher powered vapes with coils with a resistance of less than one ohm - hence the name 'sub-ohm'. 

Rebuildable Vape Tanks

Rebuildable tanks are vape tanks where you can rebuild your own coils using wire and wicking. Rebuildable tanks still fall under the TBD regulations of having a maximum capacity of 2ml, but can hold more e-liquid as your custom coils may not require as much space in the tank. Due to this, rebuildable tanks can help vapes to produce intense flavour and big vapour clouds.  The types of rebuildable tanks are Rebuildable Dripping Atomisers (RDAs), Rebuildable Tank Atomisers (RTA), and Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomisers (RDTAs). Rebuildable vape tanks allow you to gain more control over your vaping experience and adapt it to your exact preferences.

How much nicotine should I use with my vape tank?

It depends on you, your vaping habits, and the type of tank you choose.  It's important to keep in mind that if you're moving from plus ohm vape tanks to sub-ohm tanks This is because each draw on a sub-ohm vape vaporises a greater quantity of e-liquid, meaning that you get a greater nicotine hit. If you try to vape too high nicotine e-liquids from a sub-ohm tank, you might end up with a headache or feeling unwell. 

What's the difference between top-fill and bottom-fill?

Most modern vape tanks use top-fill design, which is a super easy way to refill and reduces the risk of leaks. Many vaping enthusiasts prefer top-fill because of its convenience and leakproof nature, although one downside is that top-filling tanks are more likely to get damaged if you drop or knock them.  Other tanks are designed to fill with e-liquid from the bottom. Although this is less convenient because it means you have to unscrew the entire tank to refill, the benefit of bottom-fill tanks is that they are less likely to get damaged if you drop your device. 

How do I clean my vape tank? 

Cleaning your vape tank can remove e-liquid buildup and extend the tank and coil's life. To clean it, take apart the components of your tank, empty any remaining e-liquid, and wash with warm water. Then, leave the pieces to dry thoroughly before reassembling. 

How do I know when to change a tank coil?

Depending on how much you use your vape, your coils will probably need replacing anywhere between a week and a month. You'll know that it's time to replace your coil when the vape starts tasting burnt or the cloud production decreases. 

What is adjustable airflow control? 

Adjustable airflow control is a feature that allows you to customise your vape. Tanks with adjustable airflow will have slots or holes around the base with a ring you can rotate to cover or open the slots.  Closing off the airflow slots will create a tighter draw, better for mouth to lung vaping. This will increase the flavour of the vape but reduce the vapour production. On the other hand, adjusting the airflow to open more slots will provide a less restricted airflow and produce larger amounts of vapour. This is ideal for direct-lung vaping using sub-ohm tanks.  

Which vape tank should I choose?

It depends what sort of vaping experience you're looking for!  For sub-ohm vaping we love the Vaporesso iTank with the new Turbo airflow system, or the Smok TFV8 Baby V2 Tank with triple bottom airflow that can be opened all the way for huge cloud production.  For a mouth to lung tank, we recommend the Nautilus 3 Tank or the Innokin Endura T18E Pro Tank. What's the difference between vape tanks and vape kits?

A vape kit includes most or all of the hardware you need to start vaping, ie: a tank, a battery, and coils. You can browse our range of vape kits here. Some kits, especially those with external battery units, may not include the batteries themselves as standard, so check whether you’ll need to purchase them separately. 

Which mod should I use with my vape tank?
