Freebase Nicotine

Freebase nicotine is the traditional form of extracted nicotine and has been used by tobacco companies since the 60s. Freebase nicotine provides a noticeable 'throat-hit' & carries the flavour of your e-liquid well.
Freebase nicotine has remained extremely popular at Oxford Vapours, even after the launch of nicotine salt. Our best selling freebase nicotine ranges include Aramax & Zeus Juice

E-Liquid Types

At Oxford Vapours, we stock a range of different types of e-liquid so you can pick the perfect juice for your vape, and more importantly, so you can get the best possible vaping experience. Here are the types of e-liquid we stock.

Freebase Nicotine

Freebase is the traditional form of nicotine that has been used in cigarettes and now also in vape juice. Freebase nicotine e-liquid are sometimes favoured by ex-smokers because of the noticeable throat-hit that is similar to smoking. They come in TPD-compliant 10ml bottles.

Shortfills

If you want to buy larger quantities of vape juice, shortfills are the way to go. Shortfills are bottles that are only partially filled with nicotine-free vape liquid, with space in the top to add nicotine shots so you can mix it to your desired strength. Oxford Vapours stocks up to 200ml shortfills so you can get more bang for your buck.

Nic Salts

A different type of e-liquid that new vapers often enjoy is nic salts, also called nicotine salt, or salt nicotine. Nic salt vape liquid combines the alkaline nicotine with a naturally occurring acid from tobacco leaves, resulting in a neutral pH. Because of this, nic salt vape juices provide a weaker throat hit, which some people prefer from their vape. The nicotine is also absorbed faster into the body, which makes nic salts ideal for vapers who are trying to quit cigarettes and need a fast-acting nicotine hit. Want to learn more about nic salts? Read our article: 'Nicotine Salts: The Lowdown'.

Nicotinic Alkaloid

Nicotinic Alkaloids, also known as Whole Tobacco Alkaloids, are a new type of e-liquid designed to provide a vaping experience that is very close to that of smoking. These e-liquids contain the feel-good alkaloid chemicals found naturally in tobacco which provide a calming experience and make the nicotine hit last longer. Thanks to these alkaloids that other vape juices don't contain, nicotinic alkaloids are believed to be more effective at helping people quit smoking.

50% VG 50% PG E-liquids

The main ingredients in e-liquid are vegetable glycerine (VG) and propylene glycol (PG), as well as flavourings and nicotine. PG is a thin, flavourless and odourless liquid. It is frequently found in products such as ice cream, coffee drinks, and cosmetics. VG is a thicker, slightly sweet liquid. It is also used in foods, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Both PG and VG are technically sugar alcohols and some manufacturers include these ingredients in their e-liquids. However, most e-liquids do not contain sugar or alcohol. If this is something you’re concerned about, be sure to check the label or contact one of our customer advisors. The percentage of VG and PG in your e-liquid impacts your vaping experience because the two have different properties. Because PG is thinner, e-liquids with 50% or higher PG take less power to vaporise and therefore are better suited to low-powered vape kits. 50/50 e-liquids are therefore best used with smaller starter vape kits and pod kits. These vape liquids also provide a stronger throat hit, which is enjoyed by some former smokers.

High VG E-liquid

You can also buy e-liquids that have more VG than PG. These e-liquids with a high VG content are thicker and therefore require more power to turn into vapour, but they produce far bigger clouds as a result. Therefore, we recommend only using high VG vape juices with powerful sub-ohm vapes

FAQs

How do I figure out what nicotine strength I need?

We stock vape juice in a range of nicotine strengths so you can find the right one for you. Our nicotine strengths range from 0mg (no nicotine) to 20mg (high nicotine). The amount of nicotine you vape is entirely dependent on personal preference, as some may find that vaping a higher nicotine strength requires them to vape less. If you're a former smoker new to vaping, you might find it hard to estimate how much nicotine you need to vape. Here's our general guide, based on how many cigarettes you're used to smoking each day:
1-5 cigarettes = 3mg
5-10 cigarettes = 6mg
10 - 20 cigarettes = 12mg
20+ cigarettes = 18-20mg
Still unsure? If in doubt, it's better to stick with a lower strength. If you vape too much nicotine, you might end up with a nasty headache. We recommend choosing a lower strength and taking more puffs of your vape if the nicotine isn't enough for you. For more information about how much nicotine you should vape, read our blog post about nicotine strength

How do I choose an e-liquid flavour?

The choice can be pretty overwhelming! If you're just starting out, we recommend trying a bunch of different flavours to figure out what you like. If you prefer fruity and botanical flavours, check out the Ohm Boy Volume II vape liquids, or for tobacco tastes try Zeus Juice Tobacco Blends. If you want to sample some of the UK bestselling brands check out Vampire Vape, Aisu, or Doozy Vape. Although trying to choose your first e-liquid flavour can be challenging, we think that sampling different flavours and formulations is part of the fun of vaping. With thousands of different mouth-watering flavours on the market, you'll never get bored of your vape.

How do I get nicotine shots for my shortfills?

When you buy a nicotine-free shortfill, you can buy individual nic shots here

How do I mix my nicotine shots with the shortfill e-liquid?

It's simple: just open the shortfill bottle, carefully squeeze the nicotine shot into it, then replace the cap. Make sure that the cap clicks back into place - this ensures that the bottle is fully secured. Shake the bottle thoroughly to mix the liquid for around 3-5 minutes. Make sure you wash your hands afterwards in case you get any liquid on your hands. Then you're ready to vape! Please note: It’s recommended to wait for 24 hours before vaping the juice after adding nic shots to allow the nicotine to properly diffuse into the liquid. However, this can be shortened if the mixture is  shaken very thoroughly.

Do you stock disposable vapes?

Yes, we stock a wide range of disposables. If you're just getting into vaping, disposable vapes are a good option because they're pre-filled with e-liquid and their batteries are pre-charged. This means that you can start vaping instantly without any hassle - perfect for former smokers who need a quick fix. If you decide to upgrade to a reusable vape, you can view our beginner-friendly starter kits & pod kits here.

Does Oxford Vapours do multi-buy offers?

Yes, we have a wide range of multi-buy offers on our vape juices to help you get more for your money.

Which e-liquids are best for MTL vaping?

For mouth-to-lung vaping - where you inhale first into your mouth and then into your lungs - 50/50 or high PG e-liquids are ideal. Because this vape style is similar to cigarette smoking, many people choose MTL at the beginning of their vaping journey.

Does e-liquid have an expiry date?

Yes, e-liquids will expire eventually but they are very shelf stable, which means that you can use them for around two years before they expire.
