Why choose disposable vapes?

If you're trying to stop smoking cigarettes, disposable vapes are a great choice. Just like a cigarette, disposables are discreet and small – easy to slip into a pocket and use on the go. 

Can vaping help me quit smoking?

It is estimated that 50,000 people quit smoking by using vape products in 2017 alone. Studies have found that using a vape to quit smoking has a high success rate, so it's likely it could help you too. 

To successfully quit cigarettes, the NHS advises that you make sure your vapes contain enough nicotine to beat your cravings. Expert help from a local stop smoking service can also be useful. 

Are disposables better for you than smoking traditional cigarettes?

Vapes are far safer than smoking cigarettes – Public Health England says that vaping is in fact 95% less harmful than smoking. Although there hasn't been enough research yet to conclude whether vapes are completely safe for your health, the existing research has found that they are far better for you than smoking. 

Tobacco contains multiple dangerous substances that are bad for your health, including carbon monoxide and tar. As a consequence, smoking tobacco can increase the likelihood of heart problems, cardiovascular diseases, strokes, and cancer. On the other hand, vapes do not contain tar or carbon monoxide, making them a far healthier alternative to smoking.

Do all disposable vapes contain nicotine? 

Most disposable vapes come pre-filled with nicotine-containing e-liquid, although some exist that have 0mg nicotine strength or are instead pre-filled with CBD e-liquid. Do disposable vapes provide a strong throat hit? 

Disposable vapes often contain nicotine salts, which is known to provide a smoother throat hit that many vapers find pleasant. 

How do I use a disposable vape?

Disposable vapes are draw-activated, which means you don't need to press a button to turn them on; you just need to take a puff. This is ideal for former smokers because there is no hassle necessary – no refilling with e-liquid, charging batteries, or messing around with vape kit settings. Like you'd smoke a cigarette, disposable vapes are ready to go straight out of the box. 

Do disposable vapes leak?

Disposable vapes are designed to prevent the e-liquid leaking out. However, if you drop your vape or knock it hard against something, there's a risk that it might start leaking, so treat your vape with care. 

How long do disposable vapes usually last? 

With most disposables lasting around 500-600 puffs, these will usually last you around one to three days before the battery and e-liquid run out. Geek Bars and Elf Bars are some of the longer-lasting disposable vapes on the market, but how long the vape lasts mostly depends on how frequently vapers use it.

Are disposable vapes TPD compliant?

All the disposable vapes that we stock at Oxford Vapours are compliant with TPD regulations, including the Darwin CBD disposable vape pens. TPD (the Tobacco Product Directive) regulations cover vape products including disposables in the UK and EU. TPD Article 20 means that disposables can only contain up to 2ml of e-liquid and 20mg nicotine, and must be packaged with a nicotine warning. 

What vape style are disposable vapes suited to?

Disposable vapes are ideal for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping, due to their use of nic salts as well as their higher resistance coils. This is the type of vaping most similar to smoking regular cigarettes: you take a puff of your vape, inhale the vapour into your mouth, and then into your lungs. This means that MTL vaping is ideal for former smokers and new vapers. 

Are disposables a cost-effective way to vape?

This depends on your vaping habits. If you’re an infrequent vaper who only enjoys a disposable vape once in a while or on a night out, disposables can be fairly cheap. However, if you vape more frequently than this, disposables can become an expensive way to vape because they are non-refillable and non-rechargeable so they need to be replaced frequently. If you enjoy using a disposable vape pen or pod and want to keep vaping frequently, we recommend upgrading to a reusable vape pen or kit.

Although they have a higher upfront cost, choosing a reusable e-cigarette will save you money in the long run because you will only have to buy new e-liquid, pods, or coils occasionally. Picking a reusable vape kit is also more environmentally friendly than single-use disposables, so we personally think it's a good idea to upgrade.
